So not overnight.
Note: I share one site below, but I did all these changes across all sites. The only thing that differed per site was the design/theme choice.

2. Redesigned site
3. Re-sized images
4. Added missing ALT text
5. Minimised plugins
6. Compressed images
7. Stopped writing for Google and stopped using SEO tools
8. Rewrote articles from other sites
9. Focused more on traffic from FB, newsletter and other sites, Pinterest
10. Eliminated fluff from content such as key takeaways, FAQs etc
11. Stopped believing SEO gurus, as none of them had ideas.
